Nona Maiorano

The smartest thing I ever learned was that I am not that smart at all. Once I realized that, I suddenly no longer sought to be right; I sought to be wise. That was when wisdom was allowed to take the driver’s seat in my life and my ego finally took a seat in the back.

Stoic philosophy is the guiding light on my life journey. It guides my inner search for my best person. It guides me toward the end of my journey with a perspective of internal peace and resolute calm. It teaches me that I can be someone who leaves their mark by making the world a bit better while I am here.

My youth was turbulent and I am determined that the last half of my life will not reflect chaos but beauty and peace.

My balancing act of many interests as well as my need for inner calm as my emotions can sometimes try to rule me led me to do the work necessary to find that inner balance and now to share it with those that enter my path.

If I am sought to mentor, I honor that. If I am sought to serve, I honor that.

I now clearly understand how not to be a codependent but to have boundaries without guilt as well as direction.

Stoic philosophy is the guiding light on my life journey. It guides my inner search for my best person.

It is a philosophy to live fully not just discuss.

Stoicism helped me raise my emotional intelligence to understand that which is truly important and to not waste my precious life force on chasing that which really isn’t important or enduring.

As I plunge forward in life, using Stoic practices to help me weather the storms of life, the conundrums that crop up, relationships with their many dimensions, and develop healthy boundaries without guilt or worry, I now find that the quality of my life is rich. This richness translates to all my relationships, in my marriage, as a teacher, a trainer, and in just being a human.

I am so glad that Stoicism is now my compass.

With this Stoic compass, I can steer my ship of life to a virtuous and courageous voyage to the end!
